Mr Guy was appointed Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at Oxford University Hospitals in May 2009. Prior to this he was a Consultant General Surgeon at Peterborough District Hospital from November 2001.

He joined the Royal Navy in 1984 whilst at Birmingham Medical School and, following service with the Royal Marines as a Medical Officer, embarked on surgical training with the Navy between 1990 and 2001. This included training posts in Naval Hospitals Haslar, Stonehouse and Gibraltar as well as posts in the civilian hospitals in Plymouth, Basingstoke, Oxford, St Mark’s (Harrow) and Singapore, with sub-speciality training in Colorectal Surgery. He wrote his MD thesis on primary blast injury. He saw active military service in the Balkans, Afghanistan and Iraq and retired from the Navy in 2004 as a Surgeon Commander. He is now a full-time Colorectal Surgeon in Oxford.
